Dewey Arnold Martin

Mr. Dewey Arnold Martin, age 80, of Locust Grove, GA passed away July 24, 2015. Mr. Martin was born in Madison County, the son of the late Launa Bullock Martin and Dewey Harold Martin. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Price and a daughter –in-law, Carol Martin. Mr. Martin was an active member of First Baptist Church of Locust Grove where he served as chairman of the ushers and enjoyed being on the visitation team. He served his country in the US Air Force. Mr. Martin enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working in insurance, traveling, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and eating Klondike ice cream bars. Survivors are his loving wife of 56 years, Alice Fendley Martin of Locust Grove; daughter, Jennifer Orr of McDonough; son, Stephen Martin of Watkinsville; grandchildren, Pvt. Isabell Martin, Seth Martin, and Katelin Orr; brothers, Luther Martin of Griffin and Henry D. Martin and wife Pat of Cumming; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mr. Martin will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 – 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Locust Grove with Rev. Kenny Heath officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Forest Park at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 – 7:00 PM.
