Beetle was born on August 8, 1940, on the family farm in Snyder County, Pennsylvania to the late Clarence H. Bailey, Sr and Ethel L. Bailey. Beetle was very active at Selinsgrove High School where he played football for four years. He went on to graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Miami, Florida where he met the love of his life, Judith “Judy” M. Keith. They married on January 7, 1961, and were blessed with two children—Scott Keith Bailey and Lori Lynn Bailey. He started his career at Delta Airlines in 1960 and after 33 ½ years of service, he retired as a Senior Instructor for the 767 program. He, Judy, and their two kids enjoyed many travels together stateside, in Alaska, and in Europe during his employment. Beetle was also an avid hunter and fisherman, and he was involved heavily in the Boy Scouts while his son obtained his rank of Eagle Scout. He served his community by being an NRA hunter safety instructor for kids and adults. To begin his retirement, Beetle and his wife, Judy, enjoyed their travels throughout the United States full-time in a motorhome for over 10 years. They continued to travel abroad as well. Afterwards, they settled again in McDonough, Georgia where he was eager to serve his family and his church.
Beetle was preceded in death by his father, Clarence H. Bailey, Sr and mother, Ethel L. Bailey; his siblings, Marie Corbin, Celia Suloff, Leah Bingham, and Landon “Beetle” Bailey.
Beetle was survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Judy; his son, Scott K. Bailey (Debbie); his daughter, Lori McGee (Jim); his grandchildren, Branden McGee (Lauren), David Bailey (Tessa), Tara Bailey, and Krista Bailey, and his great-grandchildren, Logan McGee and Asher McGee. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews in California, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Beetle on July 11, 2024, at Wesley Way United Methodist Church with visitation to begin at 11 a.m. and the service at 12 p.m. The service will be led by Pastor Randy Dodd, a family friend and leader of AOK Ministries, of which Beetle was a member.
