Chris was such a funny, fun guy. I have fond memories of playing D&D with him. His sketches were so good, and always cracked me up. He will be dearly missed. ❤️

Oh Father, thank you for all of your ways. You give and you take away. “Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” (Job 2:10).  I will give thanks to you, my Rock and my Deliverer. All of creation shall sing your praise, and you will comfort your people, wiping away every tear forever. You “will swallow up death for all time, and the LORD God will wipe tears away from all faces, and He will remove them reproach of His people from all the earth; for the LORD has spoken” (Isaiah 25:8). In Christ’s name I pray for comfort as we mourn our dearly beloved friend Chris.  

Chris was full of life and joy. He was my best friend. I am so thankful for all of them times we had together. He would always put a smile on my face, yet he knew how to comfort the hurting. He use to say that entire we met it was like we had just left each other. It didn’t matter if it had been a few days or a few months, we always picked up like we were always together. This photo was taken at my wedding reception. Chris knew that I never imagined I’d get to marry such a stunning woman (I love you Brianna). He came to celebrate with me. It was after they first year of Covid during the gas scare so Chris took s flight to Nashville and I picked him up from there airport. We cut up the whole way to Byrdstown, and the whole way down to Georgia. At one point we were laughing so hard I could hardly breathe. I think we even pulled over on the side of the road, thankfully there was a mountain overlook. It was always that way between us. You will be dearly missed my sweet friend.



My dear friend Chris, I will always hold you near my heart. My hands are heavy and my knees are weak today. Yet my hope is in Christ Jesus—the resurrection and the life. 

Chris and I spent years fishing together. Many of our fondest memories are on the other end of a lure.  He was a legendary fisherman. I always admired his ability to catch fish, and I learned so much from him over there years. In our childhood we spent countless weekends together catching bass, bluegill, and catfish. Those were exciting times and disappointing times. Sometimes we’d land a huge fish, other times we’d walk away with nothing. Yet, we always had each other. As the years passed we cherished our memories together, laughing at all the great times we had together. We laughed till we cried, and we probably made his family cry because we were always acting so silly.  We had a very special bond. I knew that he would give me the shirt off his back, and I would give him mine. The photo above is just one picture of so many memories. My wife took this photo a few years back after our post Covid wedding reception. We had to wait a year to have them reception, but Chris made the point to come. We spent a number of days together fishing and cutting up. He kept on telling me, “It’s such an honor to be here man.” He was a grateful and humble friend. I am forever blessed because God sent him into my life. Praise Christ for His mercy. All of His ways are good.

Chris was always there to lend me a hand. When I sinned and went off with the wrong crowd he would rebuke me. When I was depressed and in distress, he was there for me. This picture says a lot. We were a team. We depended on each other, and we grew together. You will always be remembered as a faithful friend. You knew me, and you loved me. Oh God, please help me to comfort and support his friends and family because I know he would do the same for me, and I want them to know your peace. Your comfort they weary and heavy laden. You give them rest. In Christ’s name I pray, may we be counted faithful through your Son, amen.

A happy note to end on, Chris and I were always making jokes. For some of you this comes as no surprise. There was no such thing as Chris and Devin hanging out without a fare share of jokes. Ok, for some it was over the top. Whatever the case, we knew how to have a good time. Remember to take a moment to laugh. Life is but a breath. You’re not promised tomorrow. Enjoy the life you’ve been given, give honor to Christ. Repent and believe the gospel. Find joy in Him. Live everyday to the fullest. 

Oh Father, thank you again for your abundant love and kindness. You are forever faithful. You covenant with your people, and you cannot deny yourself. Therefore, for your namesake give life to those mourning the loss of Chris. Let them find hope in their time of need. May they look to Christ who took the punishment for sin on the cross so that those who believe receive His right standing before you (2 Corinthians 5:21). May they turn away from their sin so that they do not face your holy wrath, for after death comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). May they heed the warnings that you give as a gracious God. “If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). Let them instead confess their sin to you and find peace with you through Christ our savior who wrought a finished work on the cross (John 19:30). In Your name I pray, amen. 

Chris went on a hike with us in Kentucky. He was an amazing guide appreciating all of nature. 

Chris was an amazing young man. This picture was taken in 2014,  He taught my son how to fish for big mouth bass. Praying for everyone who loves him.
