Christopher "Chris" Powell

Christopher "Chris" Powell, age 53, of Jackson, Georgia passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 in Griffin, Georgia after a brief illness. Chris grew up in Riverdale and Jonesboro, Georgia. He was a graduate of Riverdale High School. Chris was employed by Vulcan Materials Quarry for over 20 years.

He was always interested in automobiles and enjoyed NASCAR races, the classic car shows Mecum and Barrett Jackson. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Chris enjoyed sitting outside listening to his music and visiting with his family and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. "Sonny" Powell, grandparents, Edward and Etta Tingley and Leon and Lois Powell.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa "Lisa" Powell of Jackson, GA; mother and step-father, Brenda and W.T. "Mitch" Mitchell (Dad) of Fayetteville; brother, Nicholas C. Powell of Summerville, SC; step-brothers, Todd Mitchell of Newnan, Donald Mitchell of San Diego, CA and Jeffry Mitchell of Bronx, NY; children, Marissa (Kevin) Clifton of Quitman, GA, C.J. Powell of McDonough, GA, Ashley (Matt) Trissell of Upper Marlboro, MD and Jake (Samantha) Vincent of Fairbanks, AK; grandchildren, Elijah and Genevieve Trissell and Emma Vincent, Alexis and Victoria Clifton.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 - 2:00 PM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service.
