Mr. Charley Frank Carter, also known as “Good Daddy”, age 92, of Hampton, Georgia passed away on July 6, 2016. Charley was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late William Oscar and Eula Davis Carter. His wives, Agnes Mathis Carter and Louise Wallace Carter; sisters, Doris Hirsch and Grace Wallace; and brothers, Davis Carter and Jack Carter also preceded him in death. Charley served our country in the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years, serving in WWII/Korea. During his naval career he was appointed as a Chief Petty Officer in 1960. After retiring from the Navy, he continued his career as an aviation mechanic, working for Northwest and Delta. Mr. Carter was a true disciple of the Lord and made sure that you knew he was saved through spreading God’s word. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, showing horses, and playing blue grass music. Charley leaves behind his daughters, Judy Gail Carter and Paula Breed, both of Panama City, Florida; sons, Norman Moore of Panama City, Florida and Tommy Moore of Buford, Georgia; grandchildren; Elizabeth “Ashlea” (Chad) Gower of McDonough, Georgia, Chris (Shelly) Moore of Hampton, Georgia, Matthew Carter (Karen) Pope of Rockmart, Georgia; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Sprayberry of Lithonia, Georgia and Mary Gower of Buford, Georgia; brother, Bobby Bankston of Stockbridge, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. A service to honor Charley’s life will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2016 beginning 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Chris Moore and Chad Gower will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service. A graveside service in Panama City, Florida will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery - Evergreen. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
