Catherine R Arey

Catherine R. Arey, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away on the 8th of May, 2024. Born on December 30, 1942, in New York, New York, she lived a life marked by her steadfast spirit and nurturing heart.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted daughters, Martha Gavel and her husband Steven, Charlotte Alexander and her husband Matthew, and Elizabeth Bushey and her husband Donald. Her grandchildren, Isabella Arey, and William, Nikki, and Isaac Alexander will hold dear the wisdom and tenderness she imparted to them. Preceding her in death were her beloved wife, Georgia Arey, and her parents, Charles and Beatrice Arey. Catherine's sister, Janet Bondo, and her husband Bruce, share in the family's loss.

A graduate of the University of Alabama, Catherine served her country with honor as a member of the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam. Thereafter, she found her lifelong love, Georgia, with whom she forged an enduring bond.

Catherine will be remembered for her love of model railroading and for the joy she found in playing her harpsichord—an instrument through which she expressed her artistic soul.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at the Mass of Christian Burial, to be held at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, GA at 11:00 am on June 3, 2024. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Catherine's memory may be made to Calvary Refuge Inc, in Forest Park, GA. The family has entrusted Haisten Funerals & Cremations, McDonough, GA with the funeral arrangements, who will handle the services with reverence and care.
