Carol "Sue" Jones

Sue was born in Hartwell, Georgia to the late Lee Anderson and Bertha Azalee Holcombe. Sue completed the family reunion as she was greeted in Heaven by her parents and all 12 of her siblings; brothers Melvin Holcombe, Calvin Holcombe, William Holcombe and sisters Ettie Seymour, Rosa Bell Sanders, Minnie Ruth Carson, Francis McLendon, Dorothy Frisby, Katie Moore, Catherine Ann Vickery, Sylvia Barr, Eunice Idell Abbott.

On March 22, 1958, she married James Edward Jones and began a journey that would last 54 years until he preceded her to Heaven's Gate in 2011.

Trying to find a single word to describe Sue would be nearly impossible. Some words that would come to mind are Loving, Kind, Caring, Classy, Sweet, Thoughtful, Beautiful, Supportive and many more.

Sue loved to stay busy and active. Her life was one adventure after another.

She worked as a bookkeeper for 30 years at the State Farmers Market. She also worked for Woolworth, Hertz Rental car, she was the volunteer coordinator for 6 years at Unity Grove Elementary and 3 years at Locust Grove Middle School, she was a Voting Poll worker in Henry County for several years and a Sunday School helper at Church for several years.

She also started a very successful beauty pageant business, Georgia Beauty Pageants and ran them for about 30 years which promoted the Baby through Teen Miss Georgia televised pageant. Sue also owned Starlite Models and Talent where she placed talent in movies, commercials, print ads and soap operas (and she was in a couple of movies herself).

She loved to shop and go to Starbucks. She also enjoyed working word search puzzle books.

She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and a long-standing member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Sue loved the Lord and all her family and friends. Her memory and legacy will live on through her daughter Jan Jones Kennedy (Mike), Grandsons Jason Michael Kennedy, Zachary Dakota Kennedy (Grace) and her beloved Coco.

A visitation for Sue will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with a committal service at Sherwood Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 6841 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA 30236.
