Peacefully, on June 10, 2022, Mrs. Annette Colwell Elder joined her husband, William Lloyd Elder, in the Kingdom of Heaven. Her life of 91 years began on the family farm near Jackson GA as one of 14 children born to Elmo and Jewell Colwell. After she and Lloyd married, they raised two children, Steve and Terrie, in South Pittsburg TN. Throughout her life, Annette maintained a strong relationship with her Savior as a member of the Fellowship Presbyterian Church near Jackson, the South Pittsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and the East Ridge Presbyterian Church in Tennessee for her final years with us. Annette's caring values were often displayed in her volunteer work with various community activities to include the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, church youth groups, and women's bible studies. She was particularly known for her compassion toward furry four-legged friends. There was no such thing as a "stray" kitten, cat, or puppy once they found her. She is survived by her loving daughter, Terrie Hailstone, of Huntsville AL and son-in-law Mitch. She is lovingly known as "Mimi" to her grandchildren Will (Danielle) Hailstone, Bryan Hailstone, Eric Elder, and Sarah Elder; and great-grandchildren Victoria and Logan, whom she absolutely adored. She is also survived by brothers Olin B. "OB" Colwell of Sea Island, Johnny (Martha) Colwell of Jackson; sisters Polly Brown of Locust Grove, Peggy Braswell of Jackson, and Patsy (Terry) Avery of Trenton MI. She was further blessed with many wonderful nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Annette was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Colwell Elder, and siblings Milton Colwell, Kathryn Cobb, Elmo Colwell Jr., Josephine Bevil, Miriam McKibben, Marlin Colwell, George "Buster" Colwell, and Charlotte Colwell. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Fellowship Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to an animal rescue charity of your choice.
