William Turner “Bill” Montgomery, 79, of Maysville passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born November 7, 1934, in Greensburg, KY, to the late Milton Fred and Georgia Ellen Turner Montgomery. Bill graduated from Greensburg High School in 1952 and graduated from University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1957. He served six months of active duty and seven and a half years of reserves in the US Army. Bill had a long and distinguished career as a Civil Engineer. Among his many accomplishments include the design of sections of New Circle Road in Lexington, a section of the Bluegrass Parkway and the Mountain Parkway. He was the President and Co-owner of Maysville Survey and Engineering until his retirement in 1999. Bill enjoyed fishing, golf and sports of all types, particularly University of Kentucky sports. In recent years, spending time with his four grandchildren, who he loved dearly, was a priority. He was a forty-eight year member of the First Baptist Church in Maysville where he served as a deacon, a past member and Past-President of the Maysville Rotary Club, an original Mason-Fleming Airport Board member, a member of the Maysville Country Club, a past member and Past-President of the Civitan Club in Lexington, KY and a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Survivors include his best friend and wife of fifty-six years, Betty Clark Montgomery; son Brad, daughter-in-law Kris and grandson Landon; son, Kelly, daughter-in-law, Debbie and grandchildren, Hayley, Turner and Audrey. Funeral services for Bill Montgomery will be held at the First Baptist Church in Maysville at 2:00 PM, Sunday October 26, 2014 with Rev. Tony Liess officiating. Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM.
