Vivian Dalphine Rawlings Given, 89, formerly of Maysville, Kentucky died April 12, 2015 at Grayson Manor in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Mrs. Given was the widow of Harold Gilbert “Jess” Rawlings, her first husband and of William Given, her second husband. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a graduate of Transylvania where she performed in the choir and a Kentucky Colonel. Born in Paris, Kentucky on February 23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Russell Barlow and Elizabeth Carr Barlow. She was a school teacher for twenty-eight years in New Richmond, Ohio. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Shirley Rawlings and granddaughter, Jessica Rawlings Cain (Adam) both of Clarkson, Kentucky and four great grandchildren, Breanna, Kerrigan, Adasyn, and Tate and one great-great granddaughter Kylie. Also surviving is one step-daughter Gay Shale of Mt. Sterling and two step-grandchildren Michael and Brianna and two step-great grandchildren, Haley and Layne. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Russell Rawlings and her brother, Samuel R. Barlow II. Funeral services for Vivian Given will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Friday, April 17, 2015. Burial will follow in the Carlisle Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
