Robert G. Brothers, 73, of Maysville died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Carlisle, Kentucky on July 9, 1940 the son of the late Maurice Glenn and Wilma Perry Brothers. Mr. Brothers graduated from Maysville High School, Eastern Kentucky State College, and the Kentucky School of Embalming. He formerly worked for Porter and Clay Funeral Home, and later founded with his parents, the Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Brothers later merged the Brothers Funeral Home with the Knox Funeral Home in 1980 forming the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home, which joined the Keystone Group of Funeral Homes in 1997 and is now currently owned by Service Corporation International since 2010. He was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, The Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, Kentucky State Coroner’s Association where he earned the title of “Master Corner” and Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a past board member of Tennessee Walking Horse Owners Association and The Walking Horse Commission. He served in the US Army Reserves and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Brothers has served as the Mason County Coroner since 1999 and had previously served as Coroner in the early 1960’s.He is survived by his wife Vicki Highley Brothers; two daughters, Cynthia (Doug) Wulfekamp of Maysville, KY and Dr. Shawn B. (Jim) Williams of Taylorsville, KY; two sons, Jacob L. (Holly) Pendleton of Evansville, IN and Russ C. (Chasity) Pendleton of Frankfort, KY; ; five grandchildren, Shelbie Wulfekamp, Kaelin Stout, Jack Pendleton, Mason Pendleton and William Christopher Pendleton; one sister, Sue B. Mayo of Maysville; two brothers, Glenn (Bobbi) Brothers of Maysville, KY and James (Kay) Brothers of Pine Knoll, NC. Funeral services Robert G. Brothers will be held at the Fields Auditorium, Maysville Community and Technical College at 3 PM, Monday, July 22, 2013 with Reverend Kenneth Simpson officiating. Visitation will be held at the Fields Auditorium, MCTC on Monday from noon until the hour of the service. A private interment will be held at the Maysville Cemetery.
