Riley Edward Lawrence

Rev. Riley Edward “June” Lawrence, Jr., 90, of Hendersonville, NC died Friday, April 21, 2017 at Sunny Brook Assistant Living in Hendersonville, NC. Rev. Lawrence was the widower of Lillian Jean O’Daire Lawrence who died December 11, 2016. He was a retired minister associated with The First Church of the Nazarene in Hendersonville, NC, where he served from September 1984 to September 1997. During the time of his ministry, he served churches in Joelton, TN, Fulton, KY, Hamilton, OH, Batavia, OH, Newell, WV and retired at Hendersonville, NC. He was a World War II veteran having served in the US Army. Riley was born in Germantown, Kentucky on June 21, 1926 the son of the late Riley E. Lawrence, Sr. and Hazel Dodson Carpenter. Survivors include his son, Michael E. Lawrence of Mt. Kisco, NY; his sisters-in-law, Lillie Lawrence Hughes and Joyce (Bud) Gilbert both of Maysville, KY; his brother-in-law, Albert (Barbara) O’Daire of Flemingsburg, KY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Sue Lawrence and his brother, Rev. Eugene Lawrence. Funeral services for Rev. Riley Lawrence will be held at the Maysville Cemetery Chapel at 11:00 AM Friday, April 28, 2016 with Bob and Diana Lawrence officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maysville Church of the Nazarene, 156 W. Maple Leaf Road, Maysville, KY 41056. The arrangements are entrusted to the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home.
