James L. N. Huron, 70, resident of Clark’s Run Road, died Tuesday May 31, 2011 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. Mr. Huron was born in Mason County on May 24, 1941, the son of the late Albert and Frances Curtis Huron. Jim retired from Dayton Power & Light in 2005 where he had been a Controls Technician and Tester and had been a barber for 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeanie Ormes Huron and a son Dale Huron and daughter Lisa Huron, both of Lexington. Also surviving is a brother Jerry Huron of Converse Indiana. His brother Jack Huron preceded him in death As a Boy Scout leader, he worked with many scouts to help them earn marksmanship badges. Many of the scouts shot competitively. After helping the scouts, he instructed many individuals in gun safety and encouraged the knowledge of the right to bear arms. He was a range officer at the Manatee Gun and Archery Club in Bradenton Florida during the winter months. Jim lived in Maysville all of his life. He attended the Ashland Barber College and took continuing education classes at Maysville Community College. Jim’s early desire to be a barber started in his early years when he was a shoeshine boy at the Weaver Barber Shop. He attended Seddon United Methodist Church for over 40 years where he served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Methodist Men’s group. He loved to sing Southern Gospel Music. During the winter months, he and his wife attended the Bradenton Florida United Methodist Church where they took an active part in that congregation. Jim loved to fish, travel and camping, Southern Gospel Music and was a gun dealer and collector. He loved spending time with the family and friends and had a special love for basset hounds. Services for James Huron will be Friday, June 3 at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M with Rev. Mason Harrod officiating. Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Shannon, Randy Moore, Charles Morgan, Gerald Curtis, Gary Evans, and Jim Curtis. Honorary bearers will be Les Griffs, Gordan Guild, Jerry Greenlee, Tim Dickson, Bud Yockey, Frank Stitt, Jim Littleton, Gene Littleton, Ken Boling, Jim Fisler, Richard Braun, and Ray Reed. Visitation will be Thursday, June 2 from 5 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Road, Maysville, Kentucky 41056.
