James Edward Davis. 75, of Clark Street died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the USVA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was the widower of Lula Conley Davis who died February 19, 2011. Mr. Davis formerly worked as security guard for the Carnation Company and DPL and also was a newspaper carrier for several newspapers in the Maysville area. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a longtime blood donor to the American Red Cross having donated over Thirty-Two gallons to their organization. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 29, 1937 the son of the late Charles Glenn Davis, Sr. and the late Lurilda Purdon. He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Davis of Flemingsburg, Janice Sue O’Cull of Maysville and Kimberly Ann Hathorn of Batavia, Ohio; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and one sister, Nancy Cord of Maysville. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Glenn Davis, Jr. Funeral services for James Davis will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 with Rev. Galen Brown officiating. Burial will be in the May’s Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 5 to 7 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, Maysville Chapter, 103 East Second Street, Maysville, KY 41056.
