Joe was born on October 10, 1931 in Lewis County to the late Joseph Robert and Rozetta Ashbrooke Boling. He is survived by daughters Elizabeth Dugan and Patti (Tommy) Thomas of Maysville, Kathy (Vince) Shiveley of Aberdeen, Jeff (Leah) of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren Wayne Dugan of Ewing, David Thomas, Sarah Clouse, and Mandi Samudio of Maysville, Tiffini Anderson of Jacksonville, FL, Shekina Boling of Honolulu, HI, and Savanah Shiveley of Aberdeen; great grandchildren Katie, Orion, Hunter, Bryceson, and Aiden; great great-grandchildren Connor and Carter and sisters-in-law Catherine Dunaway and Pauline Marshall. Preceding him in death was the love of his life, his wife of 43 years, Jane Marshall Boling; grandson Joseph Workman and 20 brothers and sisters.
Joe graduated from Tollesboro High School and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He worked as an electrical linesman from Florida to Michigan before returning to Tollesboro and his passion of farming and raising cattle. Joe loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren unconditionally. Joe loved nothing more than a chaotic family get-together when all his loved ones were together and having fun.
Joe was known as a Godly man devoted to the church and his family. His devotion to the church was evident—when he saw a need he responded without recognition. Joe possessed a wealth of knowledge and he freely shared his abilities and possessions with anyone in need. His devotion to his family speaks for itself. He will be greatly missed.
