Maysville, KY – Nelle Woods, 94, of Maysville, Kentucky, formerly of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Honolulu, Hawaii, and Melbourne, Florida died Monday, March 19, 2018. She was married to Colonel Dr. Samuel H. Woods (Ret) for 77 years. She stood beside him during his forty years of veterinary practice and military service. Mrs. Woods worked in the office the Dean of Education at Auburn University and later for International Travel in Nashville, Tennessee. Nelle was a member of the Charity Circle and DAR in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Murfreesboro and the IRCC Chapel in Melbourne. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 10, 1923, the daughter of the late William G. and Ruby Kelly Jamison. Nelle (GG Girl to her great-grandchildren) cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was avid reader, crossword puzzle worker and bridge player.
Survivors include her husband of seventy-seven years, Samuel H. Woods; her son, Samuel H. Woods III (Jan); her daughter, Kim Savage (William) of Maysville, KY; a brother, Wayne Jamison of Rota, Spain; three grandchildren, Jamison A. Warren of Melbourne, Australia; Carrie Pomeroy (Jeff) and Reeves Thompson (Morgan) both of Birmingham, Alabama; and six great-grandchildren, Will, Ethan, Ellie, Andrew, Ellen and Samuel Reed.
A private family celebration of life will be held. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
