Mary Ann Kurila

MARY ANN KURILA (nee Popernack) age 86, of Mayfield Heights, OH, passed away on September 26, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Edward Sr. Dearest mother of Edward Jr. (Susan), Barb Laule (Chris), Theresa Krug (Bill), David Kurila, Carol Kurila (Gary). Devoted grandmother of Chris Laule (Danielle), Anita Laule (Josh), Andrew Kurila (Ashley), Jim Kurila (Rachel), and Kendall Kurila, great grandmother of Oliver Laule and Emelia Kurila. Dear sister of the following deceased, Elizabeth "Betty" Longo, Paul Popernack, Margaret "Marge" Franks, Andrew Popernack, Robert Popernack and Thomas Popernack. Beloved daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Popernack. Dear aunt, cousin and friend to many.

In 1956, Mary Ann met Edward Kurila. They were married August 23, 1958. After getting married they moved to East Cleveland, OH and then to Mayfield Heights OH in 1963. She was a housewife until she started working as a cashier in the cafeteria for Mayfield Schools. Mary Ann was a dedicated Catholic and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She enjoyed watching Cleveland sports, Hallmark channel, going to the casinos, sitting out on the porch enjoying the weather and all of God's little critters in the yard. She had a love for ice cream and chocolate. Mary Ann was kind hearted, loving, and had a gentle soul. She accepted her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law as her own. She cherished her grand and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Ann's memory may be made to the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland at www.ursulinesisters.org. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Saturday October 5th at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Interment Knollwood Cemetery.
