Fred Dominic Nero

FRED DOMINIC NERO age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18th. Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Theresa ‘Joyce’ (née Samueli). A self-described family man, Fred was the loving father of Dr. Julie Nero, Kathleen Nero Caserio De Franco (Ralph T. De Franco), and Kimberly (deceased 2020) Nero Gase (David Gase). Fred was the cherished grandfather of Nicholas Caserio (Kathleen Ryder Caserio), Michael Caserio (Roxann Ramsey Caserio), and Joseph Gase. Fred was great grandfather to Whitley, Chatham, and Charleston Caserio; and to Miahbella and Michael Caserio. Fred, the youngest of nine, is survived by his sister Eleanor Spetrino. Fred’s siblings Michael Nero, Catherine Gammalo, Marie Christine Le Blanc, Yolanda Kane, Nick Nero, Joseph Nero, and Nancy Carriero, are deceased. Fred Nero was a dearly beloved uncle to many.

Fred was born in Cleveland in 1935 to immigrant parents Anna and Joseph Nero. His father Joseph founded Joe Nero Construction company in 1920 in which Fred, from his teen years, was continuously employed. After his father’s death in 1972, he incorporated Fred Nero Cement and Construction, which discontinued business in 2015.

Fred Nero touched and elevated many lives. His integrity, kind-heartedness, and humor, were greatly appreciated. Fred Nero will be well remembered as a man devoted to his family, a loyal friend, and a generous employer.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 24 from 3 to 7 p.m. at THE DiCICCO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME 5975 MAYFIELD RD. MAYFIELD HTS. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 25, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd., Gates Mills, Ohio. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
