Paul A. Von Rosk, 87 of Massapequa passed away on April 11, 2023. A New Yorker for his entire life, Paul was born and raised in Queens, graduated from Xavier High School in Manhattan and later moved with his young family to Massapequa, his home for 50 years. Paul served in the National Guard as a medic and worked in materials testing for the Port Authority for 29 years, eventually becoming Chief of Physical Testing. He contributed to major engineering projects such as the World Trade Center, the TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport, and The Upper Deck for the George Washington Bridge. After retiring from the Port Authority, Paul worked for Bowne Engineering in Mineola and especially enjoyed spending time with and caring for his grandchildren. He was known for his intelligence, work ethic, and sparkling sense of humor. An inquisitive and sensitive man with a passion for learning, Paul was already tending bonsai, growing shiitake mushrooms and programming in the garage on his Commodore computer back in the 1970s and 1980s. Most of all, Paul was a devoted father and grandfather and a devoted husband to his predeceased wife Sheila of 56 years. He is also predeceased by his sisters Regina and Helen, and his brother Joseph. He is survived by his children, Nancy (Pete), Laura (Sam) and Paul (Susan) and his grandchildren Nicholas, Rebecca and Eva. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 at James Funeral Home, 540 Broadway, Massapequa, and a funeral service will be held at 11:30 on Saturday, April 15th at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at St. Charles Cemetery.
