She was born on December 27th, 1935 in Queens, New York, grew up there for many years, was married and raised her kids in Richmond hill, until she was widowed at 37 years old, leaving her with six children from ages 4-17. Later, in 1978, she made the decision to leave the city and move to Massapequa Park, New York where she bought and renovated her home on Charles Avenue, where she spent the next 47 years of her life.
Irma worked as a secretary and loved her job very much. She poured herself into all that she did, making sure that everything was done., food always on the table and her family well taken care of. She loved to play games with her family, do puzzles, feed the people she loved, rescue dogs, knit, crochet, tend to her flower and plants, listen to Irish music, travel, dance, and have early summer mornings on the beach. She loved sharing stories about growing up with her Debbie’s friends and her late husband William. Irma was the embodiment of strength, in every sense of the word. She took every task that she was faced with and found a way to do it all with grace and diligence. She embodied the term “ A mother’s Love”, nurturing and helping anyone who needed love and care.
Her memory will live on through her 6 beautiful children, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, extended family and cherished friends.
Until we meet again, always remember the good times. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask for donations made in her name to:
