William Robert Schaar, age 79, of Mason, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. He passed in his home on his own terms peacefully in his sleep. He looked forward to being reunited with Lana, his wife of 45 years whom headed for the great beyond in 2013.
Bill had family and countless friends whom most considered him to be the kindest man they knew. He made friends everywhere he went. He was an avid traveler, snowmobiler, fisherman, winemaker, gardener, neighbor, athlete, beloved father, SPARTAN and CMU Chip. He was fortunate enough to have enjoyed being retired for longer than he worked, which primarily was teaching math and coaching basketball and football at Leslie High School in Michigan. He was occasionally overheard saying "When you pass the ball, three things can happen. Two of them are bad."
Bill leaves behind a son, Tate and his wife Dr. Rafida Nossoni, several ducks, a horse, donkey, many cats, several fishing poles and many, many fond memories. He is survived by his beloved sister Barbara, her sons Scott and Doug, his cousin, Suzanne (Sukey), and several fabulous nieces and nephews and their children.
He will be dearly missed especially, by his extended family of Mike & Pam, Dr. Farid & Dr. Zahra & Leo, Rezvan, Ardis, Karen, Dave & Ryan, Peggy, Angie, Harriett & Lee, Mikey & Cindy, Patrick & Ali, Craig, Jasmin, Josh, Nick, Matt & Dawn, and too many others to list.
Bill was last seen handing the boatman to beyond a beverage and a fishing pole. For those on both shores, eternity may have to wait a bit.
A visitation for Bill will be held Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 South Jefferson, Mason, MI 48854, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
