Viola was born on December 24, 1938 in Harbor Springs, MI, the daughter of Robert Lee and Constance Elaine (Hoar) Backus. Following high school, Viola went on to marry her love, Gerald "Jerry" Phillip Cook on June 14, 1957 in Okemos, MI.
Viola's main occupation was being at home, raising her children, however, she did find enjoyment tagging along with her husband, Jerry to Jerico Construction Inc., where she worked in Sales and as a Secretary Treasurer. Viola loved being apart of the Mason community, and she even ran the City Farm Market when it first started.
In Viola's free time, she was an avid gardener, especially she loved to grow vegetables. She was a traveler at heart. Viola would travel near and far for hunting and fishing, including going to the King Fish Tournament in Florida. She would even travel internationally for hunting. Those who knew Viola would call her a true "Force of Nature".
As Viola wished, cremation has taken place.
