Thomas H. “Tommy-T” Hester, age 78 of Mason, MI passed away Monday, December 14, 2020. He was born November 11, 1942. Tommy always had a love for music, he played bass guitar and was lead singer for ‘Tommy-T & the Tokens’ since the mid-sixties. He worked for GM, retiring in April of 1997 after 30 yrs. of service, during that time he was also employed at Camp Highfields and then later at Lear Corp.-Mason. He loved playing any kind of game that the Michigan Lottery came up with and he loved making trips to the Casinos. If you knew Tom, you've heard him tell a good story or two, will remember that he usually had a smile on his face because he genuinely loved people. He would often be heard saying, "Top of the Mornin" or “Have a Good Day and a Better Day Tomorrow”. Tom enjoyed telling you ‘like it was’, especially when it was a compliment, AND more than likely, he would've given you a nickname. Tom is survived by his sister, Christine (Robert) Dutcher; children, Ann Marie (Chris) Hulsey, Shane (Linda) Hester, Judy (Sonney) Warner, Tommy (Roseanne) Sherwood, Nancy (Terry) Martin, Zarada (Scott) Larive and his special friend, Cindy Whitaker. Together with his 2nd wife, Kathy they have 22 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Tom will be dearly missed by all that knew him. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Eual & Florence Hester; brother, Preston; wife, Kathy; sons, Tom Hester, Freddie Sherwood; and grandson, William Larive.
To be mindful of social distancing and COVID precautions to keep visitors to less than 25 at a time, there will be a walk-thru visitation held from 12:00-2:00 pm on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI 48854. A Private Funeral Service and Committal Service will be held. The pallbearers for the service will include, Richard Sherwood, Michael Sherwood, Aaron Warner, Patrick Sherwood, David Swift, Kyle Warner and Lorae St. Clair as an honorary pallbearer. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason, MI, if you wish to pay your final respects at the cemetery please arrive after the immediate family service around 3:00 pm on Monday.
