Susan was born on April 26, 1952, at Mason General Hospital in Mason, MI, to Howard J. Schlichter and Virginia Norton. She married Daniel R. Gensch on June 23, 1973, and later Daniel D. Dockter on November 21, 1986. Susan graduated from Mason High School in 1970 and obtained her Nursing Certificate from Washtenaw Community College in 1973. She went on to work as a dedicated LPN/RN at Lansing General Hospital, receiving accolades for her compassion and care.
Susan is survived by her children, Jonathan R. Gensch of Mason, MI, Crystal G. Baldwin of Okemos, MI, and Jennifer K. McGlone of Billings, MT; and her beloved grandchildren, Brandon Baldwin, Rowan McGlone, Noah Baldwin, and Fiona Gensch. Susan is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel D. Dockter and her sister, Linda C. Schlichter/Tear.
A memorial service for Susan will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Mason Community Church, 1000 E Columbia St., Mason, MI 48854.

Susan Kay Dockter will be remembered for her loving, caring, and generous heart. She brought joy to others through her passion for flower gardening, bird watching, hosting parties, and her love for music and antiques. Susan's legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she touched as a nurse.
