Shirley was first born of three in Carleton, Michigan to Harold and Dorothy (Sachse) McLaughlin. Growing up in Carleton, Michigan, Shirley gained much wisdom through extensive reading and challenging herself with word search puzzles. Shirley was a retiree from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission and years later was a Mason High School lunchroom monitor.
Shirley is preceded in death by her first husband, Emil Mark Chopson, who passed at the age of 27. Despite becoming a young widow, she maintained a loving home and was the most devoted mother to her children, Renee and Thomas. Shirley married her second husband, George Morris. They had a beautiful marriage of 64 years before his passing in 2015.
Shirley is preceded in death by her brother, Robert McLaughlin, and sister, Betty Roberts, and son-in-law, Wayne Schuette. She is survived by daughter Renee Schuette (Wayne Schuette), son Thomas Morris, daughter Julie Snoeyink (Doug) grandchildren, David Morris (Pamela), George Braun (Tierney), Tammy Baker, Brandy Morris, and many friends and family, including Pete the Platypus, her stuffed companion.
