Randy D. Shafer, 63, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Lansing, Quincy, Reading, Cadillac, MI, Greensboro, NC,and Sacramento, CA, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on March 12, 2023, in Mason MI, surrounded by loved ones following a brief battle with cancer.
Randy was born October 25, 1959, in Lansing, MI, the only son of Louis E. and Nancy J. (Flaugher) Shafer. Randy graduated from Lansing Everett High School in 1978. He was a jack of all trades, previously working as an EMT, plus the automotive, and IT fields. His hobbies included working on his computers, visiting the shooting range, and riding his motorcycle.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents Louis E. and Nancy J. Shafer, his paternal and maternal grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nikole (Dylan) Peyton of Marcellus, MI and Erin (Justin Franks) Collins of Three Rivers, MI, stepson Brian Jenks of Denver, CO, grandchildren Alaythia, Naomi, Rylee, Zoë, and Devan Peyton, Abbey and Phoebe Collins, step-grandchildren Navaiah Jenks and Alex Turner. He is survived by his sisters RoxAnne Shafer of Traverse City, Nancylee (Randy) Buck of Mason, and Kerry J. Shafer of Lansing; nephew Kevin (Heather) Morris of Mason, great-nephew Kevin Morris Ir. of Mason, his former wife Carol of Grand Rapids, and former wife Theresa of Lansing.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM at the Alaiedon Township Hall, 2021 W. Holt Rd., Mason, MI, with son-in-law Dylan Peyton officiating. A private internment will take place at a later date in Central Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Lansing/Stoneleigh Residence 3186 Pine Tree Rd, Lansing, MI 48911.
