Nancy flew into the arms of her loving Savior on February 26, 2023. She was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 18, 1937. A beloved wife of more than 65 years, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a magnificent homemaker, she will be sorely missed.
As a child, she loved to visit her grandparents’ farm, who had come from Russia to America during the Bolshevik Revolution. Nancy was a model student and was in the yearbook club at Eastern High School where she graduated in the same class as her future brother-in-law. After meeting Richard through his brother, they were soon married and began their lives together in Denison, Texas.
An avid reader, she loved history and biographies, all kinds of faith-building books, and John Grisham. She loved old movies and remembered who starred in most of them. She traveled the country with her husband, Richard, an Air Force pilot, and made many friends. She and Richard eventually settled back in their home state of Michigan.
Prior to the end of their time as an Air Force family, Nancy was invited to an Officer’s Wives Bible Study where she came to know Jesus as her personal Savior. Because of this relationship with the Lord, Nancy was a great encourager. Over the years, many friends would call or visit her for wisdom and prayer. She was a great psychologist and counselor, without having a paper degree. She was a prayer warrior, and spoke God’s wisdom and love into the lives of those around her.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard. She is survived by two daughters, Tracy (Tim) Bowden, and Lisa (Paul) Fair, six grandchildren: Kate, Allison, Andrew, Jonathan, Matthew and Brandon, and 15 great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Nancy will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 South Jefferson, Mason, MI 48854.
