Lily was born and raised in Mason, Michigan to Matt and Hailey Klages on May 22, 2007. She had just started her junior year at Mason High School. She was an excellent student and always there to help her peers.
In her short time here on earth, she had many accomplishments. She stood by her family and sacrificed so much to help them through unimaginable times. She did this with grace and wisdom beyond her years. She loved her siblings and friends fiercely. She was an open ear, a shoulder to cry on, an advocate, and an excellent friend. She was always there to make you smile, lift you up, and help you see your own beauty. She gave freely, never wanting anything in return. Those dimples and that smile lit up the world.
Lily had a deep love and connection to animals and while she was undecided on her future path, those that knew her would picture her working with animals in some fashion. One thing that Lily was sure of was that she couldn't wait to be a mom. She had a magical touch with children of all ages, unless they got sick and then she would run in the opposite direction. She would have been the best mom the world had ever seen.
The beach was her happy place. She spent as much time there as she could, soaking up every last ray of sunshine so she could share that light with the world. Her hobbies included watching sunsets with Violet, joking around with Elijah, watching Grey's Anatomy with Izzy, doing everything with Archer, loving on Olive, and anything where she could be surrounded by friends and family. Her family would say that she had a permanent case of "fear of missing out." She never wanted to miss a moment. All of Lily's friends were so important to her. She loved them so deeply, spoke so highly of them and supported them in everything.
Lillian leaves behind her parents: Matt and Hailey; grandparents: Ross, Kathie, and Charline; siblings: Elijah, Violet, Archer, and Olive; and her cherished puppy: Stella. A host of aunts, uncles, and cousins will deeply miss her. Lily joins her grandfather: Tony (1953-2022) and sister: Isabella (2003-2023), in memory.
Thank you is an insufficient phrase to express the family's gratitude toward: Mason Public Schools, the MHS sports teams, the surrounding cities that stepped in, the extended family, and the entirety of Mason and surrounding communities. Your words, thoughts, prayers and donations have given them light in their darkest days. They will forever be grateful.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 12:00pm until the time of the memorial service at 1:00pm at Mason First Church of The Nazarene, 415 E Maple Street Mason, MI 48854. A light reception will follow. Lily accepts you as you are, so there are no special dress codes.
