LeRoy William Howard, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in Stockbridge, Michigan. LeRoy was born April 7, 1930 in Detroit to LeRoy and Dorothy (Burns) Howard, and grew up in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. After graduating from Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores, LeRoy attended Michigan State University where he majored in Education. During his college years, LeRoy served in the US Navy aboard the USS Colonial from January 1952 to December 1955, for which he received the National Defense Service Medal.
Following graduation from Michigan State University, LeRoy taught a variety of grade levels at Warren Consolidated Schools and Lakeview Elementary in St. Clair Shores from 1960 until 1980, when he moved to Florida.
Although LeRoy lived with dementia for the past seven years, he still enjoyed watching golf and baseball - two sports he loved throughout his long life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dawn Hamilton.
LeRoy will be remembered by his children, Barbara (Thomas) Brevick, Cyndy (Doug) VanTorre, Dave Howard, Terry (Rod) Federlein; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
No services will be held.
