Judy Rohm, born February 25, 1940, passed away on November 4, 2016. Judy was creative, eccentric and unique in every way. She was a much loved and award winning high school teacher and forensics/debate coach who later retired as a principal with Mason Public Schools. Judy was a friend to all animals. She was a walker, a lover of novels, movies, nature and Michigan beaches, an avid sports fan, and more recently a bridge fanatic. She was an amazing writer of poetry and memoirs. Her childhood recollections were written with vivid characterizations, spot on dialogue and a self-deprecating sense of humor. Those of us who were fortunate enough to hear her read excerpts from her memoirs aloud found them poignant and at the same time side-splittingly funny. She was a great listener, fascinated by and interested in other’s lives and eccentricities, and she wove her careful observations into her writing. Authentic and endearing, Judy will be deeply missed by her loving circle of close friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, C. Dexter Rohm, 1994; brother, Dexter Rohm, Jr., 1997; mother, Grayce R. Rohm, 2011; sister-in-law, Sandra Rohm, 2013. Surviving to cherish her memory are her beloved, Betty Richard of Mason, little rescue, dog, Sissy; black cat show-up-in-the-wintertime, Curby; cousin, Don (Dee) Stanger, Ft. Meyers, FL; a niece, Kim (Tom) Dammer, (Emily and Ross) Galesburg, a nephew, Bill (Amy) Rohm, (Anna and Ashley) Brecksville, Ohio.
