She is survived by her four sons and their wives: Alan and Sherry Darling of Lakewood Illinois, Glenn and Deb Darling of Mason MI, John and Dot Darling of Holland, MI, and Philip and Susan Darling of Prospect, Ohio. She had thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three sisters and spouses: Dorothy and Larry Kadolph, Marge Wolf, and Carrie and Ron Sampsell.
Joyce was valedictorian of her high school class and held both a bachelor's and master's degree from Michigan State University in Education. She taught third grade in Chesaning Union Schools for 22 years. Joyce was very proud of her family. All her boys graduated from college as well as nearly all of her grandchildren.
Joyce loved to travel. She visited all fifty states and most of the Canadian provinces. She visited the Holy Land, the Passion Play, and several European countries. She traveled with her boys during their high school marching band competition tours as a chaperone.
Joyce was active in church all her life. She began singing in her church choir at age twelve and sang until 2021. She worked at the Methodist camp in Port Huron for several years as head cook. She volunteered for Make-A-Wish for many years. She went on many mission trips with various church groups to Haiti, Costa Rica, Alaska to name a few. She was very active in the United Methodist Women's organization for over fifty years.
Joyce lived in Hemlock, Michigan until 1966, in Chesaning, Michigan during her teaching days, and in Mason Michigan since 1993. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and neighbors over the years.
Memorials may be given to either Make-a-Wish or the endowment fund at Mason First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Ash St, Mason MI 48854.
Memorial service will be held on October 26 at 11AM at Mason First United Methodist Church with visitation at the church on Friday October 25th from 5-7PM and from 10-11AM on October 26th.
