Born on February 12, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan, to Arnold Andrew McDonald and Lois Naomi (Martin) McDonald, Greg's life was marked by a deep commitment to family and a strong work ethic.
Raised in the Lansing and Potterville areas, Greg graduated from Potterville High School. On October 15, 1994, he married the love of his life, Diane Faye (Boldt) McDonald, and they shared 29 beautiful years together. Greg dedicated 26 years of his life to Fisher Body as a line worker before retiring in 2007. His commitment to his work was evident through his membership in Union Post 602.
Greg enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, finding joy in playing pool and golf. However, his greatest happiness came from spending time with his family and cherished friends. A reserved man, Greg's loyalty and love were unwavering, especially in the company of Mike Peters and more than 50 year friendship with John Joseph.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Diane; stepson, James Michael Apostol Jr. (Susan); grandson, Joseph Apostol; great-granddaughter, Silvia; siblings, Arnold Martin McDonald. (Susan), Linda Sue Lumbert, and Rick Lynn McDonald (Barb); and his best friends, Mike Peters and John Joseph. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Lois McDonald, and his grandson, Christopher, who passed away in 2021.
A visitation for Gregory will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mason First United Methodist, 201 E Ash St., Mason, MI 48854, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
