Of Mason
Born December 9, 1932 in Ludington, MI, Fred died Sunday, October 2, 2011. He was the retired owner of F. L. Boertman Construction Co., Lee Builders, Inc, B & L Construction Co. and previous owner of the Country Kitchen Restaurants in Williamston and Morrice, MI.
Surviving are his wife Judy Ley Boertman, children Benjamin Earl and Rachel Ruth Boertman both at home, son Fred Boertman, II of Muskegon and brother, Allen (Dori) Boertman of Perry.
Fred is predeceased by his parents, Albert Earl and Gerda (Rasmussen) Boertman, daughter Autumn Boertman-Gzym, brothers Albert George and Scott Boertman, sister, Janet Paine and life partner Leona Short.
Fred built many homes in Muskegon, Williamston and Mason, most notably, the house at 2447 S. Williamston Rd., now known as "Haven of Rest" Adult Foster Care Home. He also specialized in under-house excavating, i.e., putting basements under existing homes and basement repairs.
In recent years, when he was no longer able to do construction work, Fred became a stay-at-home Dad to his children Benjamin and Rachel. Fred’s work was his passion; his wife and children were the love of his life.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 6, 2011, at 11:00am at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington, MI on Friday, October 7th at 1:00pm.
