He was born in Scottville, Michigan for Forest and Josephine (Rood) Johnson. Paul was married for 60 years to his devoted wife Melinda (Isbell) Johnson. Paul served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean conflict. He then earned an undergraduate degree in Pomology from MSU. Raising fruit on the family fruit farm in Covert Michigan was his calling and provided him the ability to be in close touch with nature. Later, he earned a Master's degree in Education from MSU and taught auto mechanics at Mason High School. Teaching and being a listening ear to students was an important aspect of his life. Paul was a Stephen Minister and Leader for 28 years providing Christian support to those wrestling with life problems. Paul was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing.
He is survived by his wife Melinda, beloved children son Peter, daughter Kristen and sister Marcia Eager.
A celebration of life will occur in the spring.
