Born July 3, 1932, to Quinten and Golden Millsop of Grove City, Pennsylvania. David is the last of his immediate family to join our Divine Savior preceded in death by his sisters Jane and Marjorie, along with brother William.
David is survived by his wife and lifelong love Sally Anne Millsop, his children son David Jr. of Phoenix Arizona, daughter Joni Hartman of Mason Michigan, and daughter Beth Crafton (Mark) of Chicago Illinois. Grandchildren Hope Clark (Greg) of Mason Michigan, Michael Millsop of Huntington Beach California, and Paul Crafton, of Chicago, Illinois. Great Grandson Parker Clark. David is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He found the absolute girl of his dreams, his true soulmate and ultimate life partner in the hills of Western Pennsylvania. Sally Anne DeCorte, from the tiny town of East Brady, was his perfect partner. While enjoying 66 years of marriage, David and Sally built beautiful and fulfilling lives together. David and Sally made friends easily and enjoyed many wonderful relationships.
The game of Bridge formed the basis of many long-lasting and fulfilling friendships, including several cherished lifelong friends. Later in life, in Florida, they very much enjoyed the formal games of Competitive Duplicate Bridge. Golf was also a favorite activity for both David and Sally. David attracted fun golf buddies who explored the local golf courses. He even had a hole-in-one during league play at Mason’s El Dorado!
Nicknamed “Toughy”, David enrolled in the US Air Force and served our country during the Korean Conflict. David served Intelligence duty at the remote Alaskan Aleutian Island outpost. He returned home to Grove City where he built the foundation of an excellent life for himself. David studied at Grove City College where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. David retired in 1994 after a long career in management with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. David managed the West Saginaw store in Lansing for many years.
David was the model family man to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. David was especially close with his grandchildren Hope and Michael. Each of them developed deep and loving relationships with “Papa” or “Pops”. From their birth, he genuinely and deeply appreciated the times and the tales that they shared. He loved to travel with his children and grandchildren, enjoying many special trips and adventures.
While we endure this loss, we are so grateful for the man and husband he was, grateful for the father he was, grateful for his strength, and mostly grateful he was ours. He was OUR Man. We have been blessed to have had him not just part of our lives but shaping and guiding our lives.
We release him now to our Lord with our Love – “Always and In All Ways.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S Lansing St. Mason, MI 48854. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
