On Monday, October 28, 2019, Dale Alan Ruttan, loving husband, father of three daughters, grandfather of eight passed away at Stoneleigh Residence at the age of 73 after a short illness. Dale was born on July 29, 1946 in Williamston, Michigan to George and June Ruttan. Dale was a 1964 graduate of Williamston High School and a 1973 graduate of Central Michigan University. He married Mary Ruttan (nee Breton) on July 29, 1972. Dale worked for the Ingham County Road Commission as Finance Director for 22 years. After retirement, Dale continued to work for the County Road Association Self Insurance Fund. (CRASIF) as secretary for 12 years. Dale was a Vevay Township Board of Trustee for 14 years as well as serving on the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. Vevay Township holds a special place in his heart. Dale proudly serviced his Country during the Viet Nam War in CO D 1/5 1 Calvary Division of the United States Army receiving several medals including a purple heart. Dale was a member of the Mason Masonic Lodge #70, Past Master; Ingham Chapter #51, Royal Arch Masons; Leslie Council #50, Royal & Select Masons; Jackson Commandery #9; Order of the Eastern Star #150; Masonic Temple Board Association and the American Legion Browne-Cavender Post 148. Dale’s daughters and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy of a kind spirit, friend to all, love of fishing, hunting, cribbage and the zest for life will live on through them.
Dale joins his parents, George and June Ruttan; brother, Gary Ruttan; mother-in-law and father-In-law, Philip and Helen Breton; sister-in-law, Dana Gezon; and several cousins in heaven. Dale is survived by wife, Mary Ruttan (nee Breton); daughters, LeAnne (Ryan), Andrea (Kevin) and Mary-Elizabeth (Rob); eight grandchildren; Michelle, Waylon, Victoria, Abbigaile, Sean, Haley, Breton and Calum; brother, Duane (Becky) Ruttan; nieces, nephews, several cousins and a long list of friends that touched Dale’s life.
Please join us to celebrate his life and friendship with a visitation on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 6:00 p.m to 8 p.m. and a memorial service on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 621 South Jefferson, Mason, MI 48854.
