Calvin D. Face, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020 in East Lansing, Michigan. He was born August 28, 1925 in Lansing to William and Clara (Ehret) Face. Calvin was a proud Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater as a 19-year-old. After serving honorably, Calvin worked as a salesman in many fields - beverages, crackers, real estate, and finally, cars. He also raised and sold Christmas trees in partnership with two good friends. After retiring from sales, Calvin had a second career as a funeral home assistant, both at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes in Mason and in Sunfield, Florida.
He was always active, playing golf, softball, bocce ball, bowling, fishing, hunting, even coaching Little League during his younger days. Always a big sports fan, his favorite pastime was cheering on MSU athletes and Detroit’s Lions and Tigers.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta; his second wife, Louise; his sisters, Norma Jean and Phyllis; his stepson, Timothy Welton; and his dear cat, Winnie.
Calvin will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sandra Orlando, Anita (Steve) Jones, and Marcia Face; his stepsons, Lawrence (Sue), Robert (Lori), Peggy, and Gary (Karen) Welton; his five grandchildren, Nicholas, Alfonzo, Amanda, Cara, and Sara; and step-grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren.
Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 2:30pm, with Military Honors to be accorded.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Calvin's honor to Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter or Mason Area Historical Society.
