It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Rolinda E. Umayam (Linda), age 78, on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Linda passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family, at Evergreen Hospice House in Kirkland, WA. She was born on November 20, 1945, in Uacon, Philippines, to Cerilo and Cecilia Elamparo.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Ambrosio (Bert); her loving children, Arthur and his wife Rowena, Edwin and his wife Charlene, and Leiza Cerdinio and her husband Daryl; and her cherished grandchildren, Amberlynne, Roewyn-Zack, Jerahmy Teoderico (JT), Michael, Ariana, Daryl Jr. (Junior), Olivya-Cheryl, and Rhyan. She is also survived by her siblings, Lourdes and Russell, who reside in the Philippines, and Ricardo, who lives in Mill Creek, WA. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends across the globe. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Cerilo and Cecilia Elamparo.
Growing up in Uacon, Linda met her future husband at a very early age. Bert was her neighbor, living just across the street. She attended high school at Saint Vincent's Academy in the Philippines. Bert and Linda married on August 8, 1966, after Bert joined the US Navy. After their marriage, the two would welcome Arthur and Edwin to their family. During Bert’s service in Guam, they would welcome another addition with Leiza. Their life as a military family took them to various duty stations across the United States, creating a tapestry of rich experiences and treasured memories.
Linda had a bountiful career and held many job titles throughout her life. From working at Byron's Drive-In in Hawaii to Group Health in Seattle, and later for the US Navy in St. Marys, GA. Linda found her true passion in customer service. In 1991, she began working for the Navy Exchange and then the Defense Commissary Agency (DECA) at Sand Point in Seattle and then the Naval Station Everett in Smokey Point, WA. She enjoyed her role in the produce and meat departments, where she assisted countless customers with their shopping needs. Linda's dedication to her work at DECA spanned 22 years until her retirement in 2013.
Upon retirement, Linda dedicated her time to raising and nurturing her eight grandchildren and cooking delicious meals for her family. She was well-known in her community, and her radiant smile could light up any room. Linda's passion for cooking was renowned; she loved preparing meals for her family and friends, with her lumpia and pancit being the most requested dishes at gatherings.
Instead of flowers, donations can be made to the Evergreen Health Foundation in Rolinda E. Umayam’s memory: Evergreen Health Foundation Donation.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Evergreen Hospice Care for their unwavering support and compassionate care during Linda's illness.
