To describe Bob as simply a friend would be an understatement. He was more like a tutoring step-uncle, challenging me to be better while never missing the opportunity to point out both my good and my bad processes. Behind every sideways comment and raised eyebrow there was a twinkle in his eyes - at first I didn’t notice it, but later I realized it was omnipresent.

When he loaned me my first really good oscilloscope, I asked him, “How do I break this thing?”  He stopped in mid-step, turned. looked at me and gave a great belly laugh, saying, “That’s the smartest question you ever asked me.”   His knack for blending commendation and critique in the same sentence had truly evolved to an art form. He would tell me off for a mistake while making me feel prouder for an achievement, all in the same breath.   

Meanwhile Bob wouldn't think twice about giving his shirt to anyone who needed it and he seemed to take great joy in secretly helping those whose hands were not outstretched.  I will miss our late night sessions  eating  chinese and closing the restaurant as we scribbled block diagrams of some world changing electronic contraption on the back of a napkin.  

Even though he hollered at me quite a bit, (probably ‘cause I was annoying quite a bit) –  he never forgot to make me feel special after pointing out how stupid that last thing was that I did.  

And boy, I needed it. 

He is missed.

Bob was the twin brother of my dear friend Richard.  Richard always reminded me that Bob was the older brother, by minutes!

Richard was amazed at Bob's skill with fireworks.  

It was lovely knowing Bob and he will be missed.


Bob was one of a kind, and the kindest person that I have known.  We became good friends when I started working at Fluke over 31 years ago.  I would take care of his old Volvo wagon and he would help me with all my electrical at the house.  Orting was where we shot fireworks on the fourth of July, and this picture is how I will always remember him, my friend.  Rest in peace Bubbeleh.

I worked with Bob Greenberg at Fluke Corp. from 1984-1999. Bob always told me what he thought and didn't hold back. He knew our customers very well and produced some excellent products for them. When I reminisce about Fluke, Bob always came to mind.  One story he told me was that Mrs. Fluke Sr. always called him Mr. Green. We got a laugh out of that since the outspoken Bob said there is no way he would ever correct her and it was ok with him if he remained Mr. Green to her. Working with Bob was one of my highlights working at Fluke. My sincere condolences to his family. Bob rest in peace.

I had the privilege to know Bob for over 10 years. I got to know Bob Greenberg from volunteering with sorting donations for schools. I did this at least once a week for a handful of years before other duties pulled me away from being able to help. Just a few months ago I had mentioned to Bob that I might be able to start helping out again. Sadly, I won't be able to hang out with Bob anymore. Greenberg was all about helping out schools and making sure they were able to get donations. It was uncanny how Bob was able to keep track of where everything was despite the overabundance of boxes and shelves filled with Fluke products. There was definitely a method to his madness!

Condolences to Christina who Bob mentioned many times in the conversations he and I had. Your dad was a great guy. Gruff in the beginning but once you get to know him, he turns out to be a great guy and friend. His friendship and legacy of making sure schools were able to receive Fluke donations will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace, Bob. Your knowledge and humor will be missed.
