James “Jim” Roger Keith was born on December 17, 1948 in Oak Harbor WA to Parents, Robert and Patricia Keith. He passed away on February 21, 2020 at Providence Hospital in Everett from a heart attack. He is now free from the medical conditions that have taken a toll on him. May he rest in peace.
Jim was raised at Ledgewood Beach on the west side of Whidbey Island overlooking the sound. His father developed the property and Jim and his brothers did a lot of work helping with the development. Jim graduated from Coupeville High School in 1967 as a valedictorian of his class. He excelled at basketball and tennis and lettered in both. He also enjoyed Golf and played a lot in those years and throughout his life.
In the early 1970’s Jim left Whidbey and moved to Everett. He was working for his Mom who owned the Jet Deck Restaurant at Paine Field, which is where we met. We were married on May 24, 1974. It would have been our 46th wedding anniversary May 24, 2020. With our marriage, Jim gained a son, Kevin Parsons. Two Years later, on December 16, 1976, we were blessed with our daughter, Danith Marie. He asked me if I could wait another day so she could be born on his birthday! Sorry, but I just couldn’t do that!
Jim had his own framing company for many years and also worked for other contractors in the area. In 1989 he bought Lakeside Home & Roof from his older brother. He enjoyed owning his own company. He stood by doing excellent work, doing a great job and always stood true to his word. It was very sad when we had to close the company on May of 2014, but Jim just wasn’t able to do the hard work any longer.
During the time we had the company, we took several mini-vacations. Mostly our trips were to Reno, Las Vegas, Laughlin and Arizona. We were often joined by my twin sister, Marilyn and her husband Bob Bullock. We played golf, visited, the casinos and always had a lot of fun.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn and their children, Kevin and Danith. He is also survived by 2 Granddaughters, 1 Grandson, 1 Great-granddaughter, two Great-grandsons, his brother Dennis and wife Karen of Stanwood, his brother Gary Keith and partner Bebe of Twisp and their extended family, in addition to his stepfather Charles Jackson of Marysville, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and Nephews. He was proceeded on his way to heaven by his father, Robert Keith and his mother, Patricia Keith Jackson, as well as his in-laws, Rodney and Frances Keeler; and several extended family members.
Since we can’t have a gathering at this time, we plan for a celebration of Jim’s Life at a later date. If you would like to attend at that time, please contact carolynkeith1@yahoo.com and leave your contact information and we will keep you informed of the time and place.
