George Martin Wood was carried up to his Heavenly Father on April 3rd, 2025 at the age of 82. He was born in Ellensburg, Washington on July 29th, 1942, to Beryl and Geraldine Wood. The family moved to Lake Stevens, where George went to kindergarten through high school. After graduation, he attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg.
George and Marilynn were married for 62 years and had three children, Cara, Eric, and Brian. He worked for Scott Paper Company, later known as Kimberly Clark, for 35 years. He was manager of the payroll department and various other work projects, receiving high accolades for his leadership there.
George was very active in the Lake Stevens community and was elected as Lake Stevens Sewer District Commissioner in 2003 for six years, and again in 2009 for another six years. He served as a member of the Lake Stevens Lions Club for 24 years and was Lion of the Year in 2004. He followed the Lord, attended church his whole life and was most recently a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Lake Stevens.
George loved to go fishing, camping, and watch his children and grandchildren in whatever activity they were involved in. His love for his family was strong and he will be greatly missed by them all.
George is survived by his beloved wife Marilynn Wood (Wieldraayer) of 62 years; their three children, Cara Raymond and her husband Ed, Eric Wood, Brian Wood and his friend Tauna McLaury; six grandchildren, Sarah (Lonnie) Clark, Tegan (Tyler) Hoevet, Christopher Raymond, Jessica (Justin) Montoya, Taylor Wood, Christina Wood, and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Larsen and her friend Robert Lashly; his aunt, Sally Panattoni, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Berylene Roetcisoender, and brother, Jack Wood.
George will be remembered with a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at Elim Lutheran Church in Lake Stevens, 11504 26th Street NE, Lake Stevens, Washington, 98258.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake Stevens Lions Club or Samaritan’s Purse in George Wood’s name.
