One of six children growing up next door to Jimmy Swaggert, Mickey Gilley and Jerry Lee Lewis they all encouraged him to find a good day job and forget about a singing career.
Dave graduated from Central high school in Baton Rouge in 1968. Eventually he landed his day job as a certified electrician. Retiring form the int’l brotherhood of electrical workers after 38 years.
An avid hunter and horseman Dave taught his Tennessee walking horse to “dance”.
Dave came to Washington to further his education, where he met his future wife Lola. Dave and Lola were married on 1979. After his retirement they moved to Lacey, Wa. Lola’s home site. They were married 45 years.
Shortly after retiring Dave was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Spending his last years enjoying walks on the beach, making aprons to sell to restaurants and bars. Being a “apron salesman” singing( I know, I know...) and lunches at the Nisqually elder center. Thank you Tulalip for arranging this service Lola would like to give a special thanks to the staff and elder community of the Nisqally Tribe for brightening Dave’s day and holding us in their hearts. Much appreciation to the Hospice team that was there to assist with Dave’s need and the support they showed Lola.
