Charles “Tom” Berger, born on May 26, 1943, passed away suddenly on November 13, 2024, at the age of 81. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Charlie; mother, Rose; and his twin sisters, Beverly and Betty. He is survived by his sister, Vicky Peacock (Mike).
Tom leaves behind Nancy, his wife he loved of 39 years. His daughters, Kimla (Tom) Weller and Kristi (Jeff) Critchley, along with Nancy’s children, Lisa Atkinson (Dave White) and Todd (Angie) Karr, there were many memories shared with him.
He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Mitchel (Allison) McGhee, Macall McGhee (Maynor Molina), Mason Weller, twins Carl and Chason Critchley, Demri Atkinson (Brandon Zilles), Denton (Kaylee) Atkinson, Kyle Karr, and Cody Karr. Tom also delighted in the joys of being a great-grandfather to Olson Molina McGhee, and Scottie Zilles.
Tom lived in or near Marysville his entire life. Attended Marysville schools K-12, he also attended weekly breakfasts with former classmates until his passing.
Tom spent much of his life as a dedicated and skilled Automotive Machinist, partnering, sole owning and operating successful businesses until his retirement. Even in his later years, he continued to work in his home machine shop until Nancy retired, showcasing his lifelong passion for craftsmanship.
Tom’s hobbies brought him joy and fulfillment. He loved driving the ’39 Chev he restored, dirt bike riding, bicycling, attending car shows, tractor shows and cheering on his grandchildren at their sports events.
A Celebration of Life to honor Tom will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., at Gleneagle Golf Course, located at 7619 East Country Club Drive, Arlington, WA 98223.
Tom’s family invites all who knew him to join in remembering a life well-lived and a man cared for by many.
