Carleen Margie Pierce
April 13, 1978 – December 3, 2024
Carleen Margie Pierce was born in Everett, Washington on April 13, 1978. She was a proud member of The Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians. Carleen passed away December 3, 2024 in Seattle at the Swedish First Hill Campus while awaiting a liver transplant.
Carleen was an avid crocheter and she would always have multiple projects going at once. She was always working on items that could be used in cultural giveaways, but she would also experiment with fun and funky patterns in her free time. Most recently she made hats with small cat ears stitched at the top for her daughter’s friends.
Carleen was always easy to spot in a crowd, she always had to accessorize and nine times out of ten she was wearing something bright, colorful, and patterned. Her favorite hobbies include coloring in her books, online shopping, journaling, collecting all kinds of stickers and stationary, spending time with her daughters, and lastly entering in multiple online raffles. Her go to catchphrase to her mom was “someone has to win”. She loved to swim in the Stillaguamish River in the summertime, she loved her coffee and had a go to order that would change seasonally at her favorite coffee hut, Local’s! When she stepped in front of a grill her cooking skills would really shine and she was always seen with a smile on her face every summer when the family would gather to eat her BBQ creations. When Carleen wasn’t crocheting she could be heard throughout the house laughing at viral videos and Dr. Pol on her phone. When she wasn’t with her daughters she was seen with her nephew Mitchell, they both would joke and tease each other until they were laughing until their bellies and cheeks hurt. When you ask Carleen about her favorite memories you would always hear about seeing the newest Marvel movie in theaters with her youngest daughter Antelope, and talking to her oldest daughter Aubry on the phone. Carleen was always there to lend a helping hand, especially when it came to helping her mom in Lila’s Fry Bread & Indian Taco stand at The Stillaguamish Festival of The River, or in the prep kitchen with her mom who had cooking jobs in the native community.
Carleen truly was a selfless woman, no matter how big or small the favor she needed to make sure you were taken care of, and when her father couldn’t drive at night anymore she was the first to stand up and grab her car keys to get his favorite snacks.
In Carleen’s younger years she was a skilled traditional powwow dancer and after years of dedication she earned the title and crown for Queen of The White Swan Indian Summer and The Eagle Spirit Pow- Wow.
Carleen leaves behind her two daughters Aubry Bigsby from Pennsylvania and Antelope Pierce from Marysville. Followed by her parents Charlie and Lila Pierce, her sister Jessica Pierce, her brother Travis Pierce, and her nephew and niece Mitchell and Monica Pierce of Marysville. Followed by her brother Gray Pierce of Toppenish and James Pierce of Muckleshoot, Theodore Gemmer, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
