Virginia Martin Haley, 94, of Martinsville, died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center where she was a resident. She was born in Henry County on September 5, 1916 to Robert Lee Martin and Addie Mae Martin. She was a graduate of Axton High School and retired from Globman’s Department Store. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist church in Axton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Aubrey Haley in 1982; five brothers, Wayne Martin, Lewis Martin, Irvin Martin, Ernest Martin and Herman Martin.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Brooks and Abra Motley, Shirley and Dave Hankins, Elaine and Bobby Wilson, Jo Anne and Ronnie Earles, all of Axton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald G. and Barbara Haley of Axton, R. A. and Linda Haley of Winder, GA, Barry and Reba Haley of Axton, 38 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Hazel Lowrey of Collinsville and Neva Martin of Crowley Texas, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wilbert and Vera Haley of Axton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel with the Rev. Mark Redd officiating. Interment will follow the Martin-Haley Cemetery in Axton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the home of her daughter, Shirley Hankins, 318 Hairfield Lane in Axton.
