Ruby Wade Atkins Gibson

Ruby Wade Gibson, 88, formerly of Askin Street in Martinsville, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Martinsville, on September27, 1921 to Russell and Annie Wyatt Atkins. Ruby was a 1940 graduate of Martinsville High School and was employed by Eagles and Grants stores in Martinsville, prior to her retirement. She was a life-time member of Fuller Memorial Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Golden Jewels.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Wade; her second husband, Willard Gibson and a grandson, Charles Fugate, II.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann Fugate and husband, Charles of Duffield, VA, Marilyn Powell and husband, Tim of Martinsville; three sons, Harry Wade and wife, Elaine, Talmadge Wade and wife, Eloise, Wayne Wade and wife, Deborah, all of Martinsville; nine grandchildren, Tammy Martin, Tracy Wade, Tee Wade, Amy Nester, Kim Reece, Chris Powell, Christy Smith, Matt Wade, and Thad Wade; fifteen great-grandchildren, Emma Nester, Jordan Nester, Leah Reece, Kelsey Reece, Piper Powell, Palmer Smith, Henry Smith, Wade Smith, Anna Fugate, Blake Fugate, Jessica Martin, Sydney Martin, Tanner Martin, Dustin Christian and Dillon Christian.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Homes, Martinsville Chapel with the Rev. Francis Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 1:45 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Saturday and other times at the home of Harry Wade, 103 Lakemont Court in Martinsville.
