Mary Louise (Lou) Felkel Finney

Mary Louise (Lou) Felkel Finney, 92, of Martinsville died Sunday, August 22, 2010 at her residence. She was born in Anderson, SC on September 4, 1917 to Frederick Wilson Felkel and Altahlee Bewley Felkel. She attended Anderson Jr. College where she was member of PHI Theta Kappa, Honor Society. She received a BS Degree in Chemistry from UNC in Chapel Hill and was one of the first women chemists for DuPont. She was a member of the Charity League, Current Event Book Club, and EX Thursday Investment Club, Chatmoss Club, Garden Study Club, Bridge Club, and Queen of the La-La Girls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Stanford Columbus Finney, Sr. and one son, Stanford Columbus Finney, Jr and one sister, Catherine F. Talbot.

She is survived by one daughter, Catherine Douglas Finney and her husband, Joseph T. Gaber of Norfolk, VA , one son, Frederick Felkel Finney and wife Mary Good of Santa Monica, CA , daughter-in-law, Mary Clare S. Finney of Dallas, Texas and two sisters, Dorothy F. Truluck of Darlington, SC , Emma Lee F. Holman of Anderson, SC, and one brother, Frederick Wilson Felkel, Jr. of Columbia, SC, 8 Grandchildren, Marika Baurdeaux Finney, Hohman Finney, and wife, Meredeth Finney, Preston Finney, Zachary Finney, Ford Finney, Elle Finney, Beau Brooks, and Parker Brooks. One Great-Grandchild, Frazier Finney, one very special God-Child, Sarah Young Johnson, nine nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11:30 AM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronald M. Mateer officiating. Interment will be private at Oakwood Cemetery.
