Martha Joyce Webster Thompson, 97, of Martinsville, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Country Living Adult Care where she was a resident. She was born in Price, NC on September 17, 1912, to Fletcher and Anna Lester Joyce. She retired from Pannill Knitting where she was a seamstress. She was a charter member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she was also a member of United Methodist Women and the Cora Lee Bible Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Everette Webster; her second husband, Lester Walter Thompson, Sr.; two sisters, Tennie J. Lawrence and Lynn J. Plyburn; and three brothers, Jim, Johnny and Tommy Joyce.
She is survived by a step-son, Lester Walter Thompson, Jr. of Boston, MA; three step-daughters, Mary T. Story of Greensboro, NC, Pamela Ann T. Carr of Chesapeake and Gail T. Zitzman of Martinsville; one sister, Pearlie J. Evans of Martinsville; step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone, Martinsville Chapel, with Rev. George L. Hearn officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service (10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.) at Collins-McKee-Stone Martinsville Chapel.
