Marshall A. Moore, 87, of Ridgeway, VA died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. He was born in Lawsonville, NC on November 9, 1925 to the late Gid U. Moore and Quenell Clark Moore.
He graduated from Lawsonville High School in 1944 and Steed College of Commerce in 1958. He served as an Engineering Sergeant in the Army during WW II and retired from DuPont as a clerk with 42 years of service. Marshall was a member of United Commerce Travelers, Travelers Protection Association and was past President of Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of Grace Baptist Church in Ridgeway.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Marion Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Garnett Handy Moore of the residence; a sister, Arlene M. Hole and husband, Billy of Burlington, NC; a brother, U. T. Moore and wife, Carla of Simpsonville, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11 AM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Dennis Wingate officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with Military honors by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday and other times at the residence.
