Born in Bassett on January 12, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Marion Irving Hutchens and Hattie Brammer Hutchens. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 57 years, Richard Turner Weaver, and sisters, Estelle Cox and Ruby Green.
Margaret was a graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Longwood College. She was a realtor with Rives S. Brown who named the Margaret H. Weaver Award in her honor in 1995. The award reads, “Margaret H. Weaver embodies all that should be aspired to by an Associate…ethical practices, courage, inspiration, humor and grace. She has demonstrated these characteristics not only in her professional life, but in her personal life as well. The recipient of this award in Margaret’s honor is recognized annually by fellow Associates as having excelled in living by her example.” Margaret has been a very active member of First Baptist Church of Martinsville, where she served as a deacon, and where she taught the Chevis Horne Sunday school class for twenty years. She has been a Sustaining member of the Charity League of Martinsville and Henry County, and was a former member of the Martinsville Garden Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Lelia Weaver Ingram, and her husband, LTG William E. Ingram, Jr., of Washington, D.C., her son, James Burgess Weaver and his wife Margaret, of Raleigh, NC, five grandchildren, Charles Turner Ingram and his wife Lela, William Emmett Ingram III and his wife Ivy, Robert Walker Ingram, James Burgess Weaver, Jr., Margaret Clay Weaver, and two great-grandchildren, Maren Rose Ingram and Emme Green Ingram.
The funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Martinsville with the Rev. John Fulcher officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 to 7 P.M. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Martinsville.
